Chickens

Yup . . . Saturday I did indeed make the informed 

decision to ride to Hinckley before the Ironman.

I managed to make it to the Buffalo House before the deluge began.

Imagine my surprise, when I arrived Carleton to find several 

hundred people milling about.

Turns out, it was the annual "Chicken Swap"

Not only do they swap chickens, but they apparently barter bunnies

These chicken swappers thought it very odd that I was ridin' my bike 

100 miles in the rain (I must point out; it was not raining when it was hailing)

Of course when I pointed out that they were standing around

tradin' chickens in the rain . . .  (enough said)

Last Sunday, I thought it appropriate to from my house 

in the East End . . . to a Lacrosse game at PSS ... by way of Jay Cooke

It was a great, if snowy ride past Spirit Mtn.

The views, as always . . . spectacular

It was too icy riding the wheel tracks downhill

I had to ride the unbroken snow, pedaling to keep moving

Seems kinda odd for April

Fast forward a few days

  and I catch up with Dave at the top of the Hawk Ridge climb

(he looks a wee bit tired . . . )

Later, the lure of gravel is just too strong . . . 

I can never resist stopping here

And Finally . . .

"HILL FROM HELL (aka Heath's Hill)"

Riding Las Vegas

In Las Vegas, It's all about timing . . . 

(see what I mean . . .)

damn that gravel road looks tempting

but . . . on my skinny tire rental bike, probably not a good idea

Ellie . . . stopped along the side of the road "updating her Facebook page"

"Are you here for the bike demo?" she queries . . .

"What bike demo" my reply as five guys go blowing by . . .

Of course I can't pass that up, and I tag along to 

the bike demo, sponsored by Trek, Cannondale and Mcghie's Cycle

(the shop who loaned me Syndi for the week)

I hooked up with Dave McNeal, a pro cross rider from Alabama 

and rode an easy hour or so before turning around and riding into

(given the red rocks, it is rather cleverly named)

ok . . . so Syndi and I couldn't resist temptation on the ride back

until we came upon this sign

Now: being a rider of some intelligence, when I notice the 

no shooting sign, and the large number of shotgun shells

I figure discretion is the better part of valor and head back

to our booth at ConExpo

A great two weeks of working and riding when I could in Vegas
